About Hefa

History

• In 1958, Messrs. Hedqvist & Fagerberg founded the company. The first two letters of each of the gentlemen’s last name make up our company name, HEFA AB.

• In 1960, Folke Alfredsson buys the company and business starts rolling. Through good contacts with Romania, Hefa, as one of 10 Swedish companies, starts a trading business with Romania. Later, this becomes a separate part of the company and anything from raw hides, wine and garden furniture to shoes, knitted wear and seafood are part of the trading business.

• In 1965, the company is moved from Göteborg to Kungälv.

• In 1977, Hefa has several business areas; sports products, shoes, bags and garden furniture. Hefa also becomes one of IKEA’s best outdoor furniture cushion customers.

• In 1983, the company is sold to HNC/Incentive (a company in the Wallenberg sphere).

• In 1988, Hefa makes one of its largest, and perhaps also most peculiar, business deals with Romania. A deal for 100 new trucks is to be made for the country and Hefa makes sure that the contract ends up at Volvo Trucks. When the Romanian revolution is a fact, all trading stops. At the same time, Hefa’s other businesses have developed.

• In 1995, Bengt Gustavsson acquires the business after having been purchasing responsible since the mid 70’s. Kurt “the Hose” Carlsson also returns as financial manager. Kurt has not only been active at Hefa since the mid 80’s, but is also a well known ice hockey persona to all citizens of Göteborg through his approx. 80 games in the Frölunda jersey and as one of the fastest players the club has ever seen.

• In 1997, Hefa acquires Matching Textil and Sko Team to strengthen the product portfolio and market position.

• In 1998, Hefa is bought by New Wave Group AB (publ) and is still one of NWG:s subsidiaries.

• In 2007, we returned to Göteborg and our present facilities in Hisings Kärra, which we share with New Wave Group.

We put a lot of effort into our products and brands D.A.D. & Grizzly to develop new high quality products for our customers. The people who work at Hefa are experienced and highly competent in their respective areas design, purchasing, logistics and distribution and do their very best to create valuable high quality solutions in all aspects.
